Standing Committees of the Coalition
Executive Committee
Duties- Guide development and implementation of a comprehensive community plan, involving community agencies and minority communities, to identify, fill gaps, and expand breastfeeding support for all women in Harris County.
- Facilitate securing additional grant funding for breastfeeding support activities proposed by the coalition.
- Act for the Coalition in circumstances when action is needed and the mission of the Coalition would be compromised by delay.
- Review and evaluate progress made by the Standing and Ad Hoc Committees.
- Prepare and submit an annual report for approval by the full Coalition.
- Facilitate provision of technical assistance upon request to agencies outside of Harris County working to replicate part of all of the Breastfeeding Coalition.
Breastfeeding Culture Committee
Duties- Maintain a current list of lay organization and agencies who interact with women in pregnancy and the early postpartum period.
- Maintain a program to train organization workers and facilitate volunteers to provide breastfeeding support with the framework of existing programs.
Education Outreach Committee
Duties- Facilitate and provide resources for development and expansion of family breastfeeding education programs offered by member organizations / agencies.
Harris county Texas Ten Step Hospital Committee
Duties- Coordinate attainment and maintenance of Texas Ten Step Hospital status for member hospitals.
Professional Training / Apprenticeship Committee
Duties- Ensure that professionals in Harris County have access to basic and advanced breastfeeding support training.
Evaluation Committee
Duties- Develop and implement a plan to collect and analyze data bout breastfeeding practices among the targeted populations.
Ad Hoc Committees
Duties- Shall be appointed by the Chair as needed to address specific tasks.
