Our lab focuses on issues related to pediatric nutrition and gastroenterology, particularly the nutritional support of the neonatal infant.

The long-term goal of our research is to establish the nutrient needs for normal gastrointestinal growth and functional development in the neonate. Studies also are aimed at identifying unique functions for specific nutrients typically present in breast milk and formula.

Findings from our research have clinical implications for the nutritional support of healthy, preterm infants and may provide the basis for the development of nutritional supplements or therapeutic interventions in populations of infants with intestinal dysfunction.
